What is a digital television receiver?

I have a rear projection TV that is HD Ready (1080i) with no HDMI connection on the later. In the manual I have, that says I can connect a digital TV receiver to it. My digital TV is also ready for change in February. So what exactly would be the DTV receiver to do and why do you need? He says he would have to be related to five components: Y / G, Pr / R, Pb / D, A & R audio, and H & V (horizontal sync, vertical sync). Do I need this receiver at all? I know what it means. Do I need and what you do?

The air shows are performed by analog signals. In February these signals are digital signals. Reg atten never made to pick this up. What a DTV receiver to do is pick up digital over the air signals and converts them to an analog signal for older analog TVs that have no built-in receiver. TVs HD DVD News should this receiver built in. If you have cable or other pay services do not have anything to worry about. Note that the image quality, the whole phenomenon of HD is better with a paid service as it loses air quality high definition, is much purest natural sources. Trust me, their is a difference. Basically, older TVs will have a disadvantage to survive, the television receiver digital disability. An HDTV must have this property are already inside. Usually you hit scan and ready analog and digital.

Not all DTV televisions manufactured after a certain date have digital tuners? What is that date?

I have a Magnavox HDTV purchased in November 2008. Apparently has no digital tuner.

March 1, 2007 was the date. Are you sure you do not have ATSC and QAM?

Does it matter what type of television that is connected to the satellite for DTV?

I have a sandard definition television connected to satellite 2002 DISH Network, with the DTV conversion is going to make a difference, or what type of TV you have connected.

The digital switchover next only affects free over the air television could be obtained with an antenna, not cable or satellite. What we now must continue working after February. You are receiving a satellite signal through a standard definition (SD) satellite receiver. If you want to upgrade to HD, you would that have a high definition television and satellite receiver upgrade to HD version. Of course, you can also use an antenna and receive the HD signals free from their local television stations. That would require an HDTV or a converter box to use with your analog TV.

Will my Vizio HDTV with digital tuner decode more channels after the DTV transition?

Now, for example, it only receives the analog signal, and a few hd signals that are broadcast along with the analog(ie: channel 9-1 is WGNHD and it looks great). My question is that ESPNHD is on 173, which is not readable w/o the Comcast box. Will that change after the Digital Transition so that I can receive higher number channels without the Comcast box?

The FCC digital transition mandate will affect the full power, over-the-air broadcast stations. These tend to be your local channels like ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and WGN as an example. The FCC does not mandate that your cable or satellite operator carry the HD versions of these local channels, though many operators do as you have seen. The FCC does mandate that the cable or satellite operators carry these local channels in an analog format as long as they offer any analog channels. You will not see the premium channels (like ESPN HD) after the digital transition because of the FCC digital transition mandate. Your access to premium channels is strictly a business decision make by your cable or satellite operator and is not governed by the FCC digital transition mandate.

Will using a DTV Converter with analog cable let me receive more digital channels?

I have one TV with digital cable box and another using analog cable where no box is needed. If I use a DTV converter with the analog cable, will it let me receive some of the extra digital exclusive channels I already have on my other set?
(Hope I am explaining this correctly)

No. The converter box is only for receiving DTV signals over-the-air, with an antenna. Analog cable systems transmit analog TV signals (duh) and will continue to do so after the digital transition is completed in June. Your converter box won’t do a thing when hooked up to analog cable.

If you have a HDTV Antenna do you need a DTV Converter Box?

If you have a HDTV antenna for your TV, do you still need a DTV Converter Box?

There is no such thing as an “HD” or “digital” antenna, that’s just marketing hype. Any TV antenna will work equally as well for analog as for digital.

The need for the box depends on the TV. If you have an older analog style TV, then you need a converter box. If you have a newer TV with a built in ATSC digital tuner, then you do not need the box, because everything is built in to the TV. You do need a good antenna though.

If you have cable or satellite, none of this applies to you. Your cable or satellite company will take care of everything.
