What is the best Free TV tuner software to use with an ATI 550 Theater PCI card?
I have an ATI 550 Theater TV Tuner Card, and am looking for the simplest, free, Tuner (and maybe capture) software to use. I had Beyond TV for a short spell, but the trial ran out.
Hm.. that is really difficult but here are some ideas. I am not sure if any of them works though.
- The card may have come with a tuning/capture software for the card. I don’t know if it actually works but give it a shot if the CD included a program for that or ATI’s website can let you download one.
- Windows Media Center. I am not sure if the particular card is compatible with it. Some tuner cards are and some others are not. But Media Center should work if your card is compatible with Media Center AND if the input to your card is either analog (cable or over the air) or an over the air digital antenna.
- Other free programs that seem to work with some tuners with some input signal types but may require extensive workarounds include:

It is best or cheapest way is to buy a TV tuner card for your laptop PCMCIA. Here's an example I found on Ebay now. I bought this exact model and comes with the WinDVR software for recording. Can I still buy Tivo-branded DVR box for my DirecTV satellite programming?
I recently moved to my uncle's house, which has the DirecTV programming. He has had a TiVo box for a few years and is simply amazing. The other day I went to Best Buy and bought a DirecTV-branded DVR (I think which is the R15), and had no box for DirecTV TiVo. After several nights of frustration with the UI and bad design in general, I have decided look elsewhere for new Tivo brand DVR. I called DirecTV and say I can no longer buy a Tivo-branded DVR for DirecTV programming … at least through them. My question is: Can I buy a TiVo DVR for DirecTV somewhere? Anywhere? And if I could, it would be easy for me to get rid of my current post and create unity TiVo? * And I am not looking to eBay for this, I have only heard bad things about people who sell the units that have not been disowned.
Funny, I was looking the same. I too have been a bit leery of buying on eBay. Your question appeared in my search. I did find a place. (link below) is the Hughes (I one, its great). $ 99 is the rate I've seen in stores. I have the R15 and I hate it. I gave my son my TiVo and now I wish I never did.

Without the box set i get fewer channels and poor reception on my TV. So the digital broadcast network is so good on my PC with a tuner card. What specifications should I look for to buy one?
I think not. A tuner card is that your PC functions as a TV. Therefore, it behaves like * TV. With a tuner card that get the same results as with a conventional TV.

That’s the reason they don’t have HDMI inputs on these kinds of cards. The industry won’t allow HD input into a recording device that doesn’t play ball with their rules on digital content management. Just get the Dish DVR…

You need more than one piece of equipment to do that. Would first have to contact Austar view is compatible with your computer in the way of a PVR. As for a USB output. The PVR is going to have a proprietary format and will not be compatible with your computer. Finally, it is difficult to copy a DVD movie.

Basic Requirements: Must be able to watch one channel and record another at the same time. It should also be able to pause live TV. I also have to be able to link a video player and that can return all my video tapes to DVD. Should not be too expensive either. If you do a system recovery (I'm not yelling, I just want to be clear), in most cases solve problems with viruses and spyware. When you do a system restore, having to restore the computer to a restore point that was created in an earlier time (some virus to infect files are different, icluding files used in Sytem Restore). Now the reason I say that recovery will be the play most often is due to the different recovery options provided by the manufacturer. If you execute the recovery of a set of CD's provided by the manufacturer (or created when configured for the first time the computer), then you should be fine. Now if you run the recovery partition on the hard disk, then there is a possibility that the partition could have been infected, resulting in no recovery. There is no ‘best computer,’ it all really depends on the software you will be using. I have a Mac and a PC, well multiple PCs and one Mac. I use my Mac the most since it is my lightest one and is my only laptop so I just use Remote Desktop to connect to my PCs via it. What type of programming will you be getting into to? Web designing is quite good, just make sure you’ve got a good image editing software such as Photoshop.
It all just depends on what field of programming you want to go into.
