Is it a crime in California in exchange for another dish alignment?
I live in an apartment building and have a DirecTV dish on the roof. The approved owner of the facility and the roof is not part of any department. Our upstairs neighbor (it is a two-story building, so that the plate is above its floor) has risen twice and misaligned roof plate. Can you be prosecuted? We're in Berkeley, Alameda County, California.
In a bizarre case I think could rise to the level of vandalism.

When lightning strikes close to home is (or tree) 'of the FRY "Zinwell 3X4 18V-13V Splitter (that happened twice). The installer put a foreign land from the "power meter to the splitter. I think the 'surge beam travels through the grounding wires and fry the Zinwell splitter. How Can this be fixed? are expensive and often end up taking several days to obtain a replacement through email. Easy 10pts?
You can find another reason if you wish. Try to find a water pipe near his home that runs on the floor, not the house. That works. Or if you have a gas gauge, you should find a home ground from the house and ground to that. Some people do not feel comfortable with connection ground to a gas pipe (including me), but the builders seem to do often. Another way is to find out where the local cable company is running coaxial cable to your home, usually by a power meter, and opening the plastic box. There should be a green wire coming out of the house there. I hope one of these ideas help.

Does Directv do credit checks?
Do they actually pull your credit report and look at it or not? I heard that they approve everyone. They only take your social security number to check if you ever been a Directv customer before or not. Is that true?
I have a collection on my credit history from an apartment complex I used to live in last year, and worried Directv might reject me if they do credit checks.
Yes Directv does do credit checks..However..if you have really bad credit..the will just make you pay a down deposit..which when I was working there..the deposit was credit back to your account in like monthly credit of $10 a month..every month..not sure if they still do that! I have never heard of Directv ever rejecting anyone from service you might just have to pay a deposit..call and check! It wont hurt!

An electric cable from the LNB, why?
He was playing electric guitar and I decided to adjust the cable from the LNB to my receiver satellite and had a mild electric shock. My left hand was on the guitar strings in time. I wonder what the reason is. Obviously, theres an electrical signal through the cable to the LNB, but why not get a shock when adjusting the LNB without the guitar? Also, does anyone know what there is tension in the cable from the LNB?
It is because of a difference in ground potential between your guitar and your satellite box, which is caused by an incorrect ground or missing. If you put a meter between the two grounds that can measure voltage. The cable from the LNB alone takes 13 at 18 Volts DC at a place of low pollution, not enough to give a jolt electric. Furthermore, only make landfall and both the center director. Since you are touching the chassis ground on both devices felt the difference of ground potential. If both devices were grounded, as with 3 teeth in one take 3 points, you should not feel anything.

What is a good 5×8 satellite multiswitch for DirecTV?
I have a 3 LNB satellite from DirecTV with the 5×4 multiswitch already built in. I’d like to be able to run signals to all the rooms in the house. I think a 5×8 will work OK for my setup. Don’t want anything too expensive. I’ve seen the Spaun brand run around $350-$600. Out of my price range. Looking for maybe $100-150. What is a good brand? I’ve seen Eagle Aspen, Channel Vision, Channel Master, Terk, Zinwell…… CNet and epinions don’t really have good support for these items. Thanks in advance for the help.
Having some issues with the installation now. Besides the install guy just doing a crap job, now today I find out I only have 3 of the 4 wires running out of the dish, and the whole thing isn’t even grounded. There is one coax wire and the ground wire just dangling under the soffit. Supervisor is coming on Monday to take a look. Hope he plans on getting an earful.
I’ve never had any problems with my Terk. Always installed indoors, although capable of outside installation. I’ve owned/used a 2×4 and 5×8.

DIRECTV standard receiver d11 problems?
Hello, I have 4 receivers in my house d11, reset every 2-3 days to themselves, postcode Channel and restoration. CEP will default (California) and my custom channels back to "all channels", DIRECTV has changed the multiswitch and said "can" fix the problem, which did not do anything. Anyone have any suggestions for changes or what is causing this? Thanks advance, Joey New Jersey
Call DirecTV and have replaced the unit. My guess is that a bad battery in there. Remember, DVR units as TiVo or DirecTV receiver computers are just in a different package. All these things can go wrong.

Cable / Satellite Directv Question of entry keeps breaking?
Here goes. Sorry if a bit long. Back in February, I received an HD DVR from DIRECTV. There are two satellite inputs that come directly from the switch-over on the roof. This allows you to watch one program while recording another. When the technician came to install, there was already a line to enter the room because he had a TV in the room already. All I had to do was put in a second line of the multiswitch. To this end, he realized that he had co-ax go to another room where there was a TV. Using a cable connector is found through the outer wall of the house in the room where I needed the second signal. Anyway, as part of its installation, was everything I was working. Both he and a I forgot to verify that the two satellite inputs were working. I did not realize until it was, that the table only receive the signal. I realized that the only line that was not working had a short right of the F connector in which he entered the box. The line was replaced
