Are two satellite dishes required to receive TV and internet?

I’ve looked on both web sites of DirecTV and Hughes Sat Net and neither answer that question directly. I would have to quess that means two dishes are needed.

Satellite customers in the U.S. typically have a terrestrial Internet service, i.e. DSL via the landline phone company. Direct satellite Internet services do exist, but there are limitations that many customers don’t like, such as very slow upload speed.

A second dish antenna should never be necessary, although it’s not impossible. Uploading Internet directly to a satellite might require a separate antenna in some systems. But again, that only becomes an issue if you’re in the minority that chooses satellite for Internet service.

Satellite is great for TV, but great Internet service (compared to other options) is still in the future.

do i need a phone line to set up and use my tivo dvr?

i am moving to a new place and do not want to set up a phone line with the phone company. but, i have a tivo dvr and still want to use it. is there anyway to use a tivo dvr without having to pay the phone company?

if you have a broadband internet connection, you can use that instead of a phone line.

you’ll need an ethernet adapter (the TiVo website lists a bunch of compatible USB adapters based on your model of TiVo) and then just follow the directions on the TiVo support site – it’s pretty easy to do.

Is DirecTV Plus and Tivo the same?

I have Directv Plus and lately I've been wondering if TiVo is better or if the same thing. What are all the tive features cool can you do? I think some people misunderstand me …. Is a DIRECTV Plus DVR.

Like clockwork DirecTV-old (almost 10 years), DirecTV Plus is used to refer to the receiver that was able to decode the satellite 119 to local channels not available in the 101/110 positions. I guess that is what the standard receiver now represents. As for your original question: No, the DIRECTV Plus DVR does not provide the same features as a stand-alone DVR TiVo. A user of DirecTV, which has had the Experience w / so much one can say exactly what the differences are, but I can only say that those who had the W DirecTV / TiVo and made the switch to DirecTV DVR are not very happy I did.
